Kayaker Rescued From Kickapoo Creek

By Jeff Muniz

A person trying to kayak down Kickapoo Creek had to be rescued Saturday. Authorities say the man held onto a tree until the Peoria City Rescue Boat arrived and saved him around 12:30 p.m.

Rescue crews report the man was hypothermic and taken to O-S-F Saint Francis. His condition is not known.

Meanwhile, US 24 in Bartonville remains open but the water keeps creeping up over parts of the roadway. Still, cars cannot turn onto Treasure or Kickapoo Creek from 24.

The Hardees' is on an island and police urge motorists to try and avoid the area and if you are driving near there take it slow. Authorities expect the Kickapoo Creek not to crest for another day or so.
And all of Kickapoo Creek Road is closed from Bartonville to Pottstown.

I agree with "yruangry"...enough already. It was foolish, but none of us are immune from it. If anything, be thankful yours didn't make the news!

Lets lighten up, folks. Somebody did kind of a dumb thing, got in over his head, and the pfd and others deserve pats on the back for a job well done.

We'll pay for this one. They will sue for injuries because they got hurt and there wasn't a NO KAYAKING sign posted. I wish they would post their name and picture so we can who did it.

Nope, you sure can't. But the do-gooders will try to educate him. What a waste.
