3-On-3 Tournament to Honor Mario McGee

By Denise Jackson

One Peoria business owner wants to honor the memory of a man gun down inside his mother's home earlier this year.

Cookie Shack owner Brenda Ware says Mario McGee used to come inside her shop after school to buy cookies when he was a student at Von Stuben.

A gunman shot the 19–year–old McGee inside his mother's home in February.

Ware says McGee loved basketball and was a good kid.

"I knew that there was something different about him, because when he would come in some of the other guys would come in with him, if they didn't have any money Mario would say I got you man, I got you. He had such a giving spirit about him," said Ware.

Ware is hosting a 3–on–3 "I Am the Boss" Basketball tournament June 13th at Peoria Christian School at 3506 N. California Street.
It starts at 8 o'clock in the morning. May 30th is the registration deadline and the cost is $100 per team.

For information call The Cookie Shack at 682–8171.
