Suspect Indicted in Judith Berchtold Murder

Murder suspect Tony Smith was officially indicted by the Marshall County grand jury 'Wednesday.

Smith faces four counts of first–degree murder in the shooting death of Judith Berchtold on April 11th.

The incident happened at the intersection of Route–17 and 29 in Sparland.

Authorities say the 39–year–old Smith of Lacon fatally shot his former girlfriend. A Lacon Police Officer arrived on the scene while the shooting took place and shot Smith.

The Marshall County State's Attorney says he may seek the death penalty.
