Another name is added to the list of potential contenders for the U–S Senate Sate currently held by Roland Burris.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky came to the river city earlier today.
Currently she is a congresswoman from the northern suburbs of Chicago.
She says she'd be a strong contender for the U–S senate seat up for grabs in 2010 because she won't forget about the residents south of Chicago.

" think our businesses are interested in our new green economy and how in rural areas can benefit from that as well", said Schakowsky.

The Congresswoman has been an Illinois politician for 8–years.
Other people who have voiced their interest in the seat include Christopher Kennedy, Congressman Jesse Jackson, and U–S Representative Mark Kirk.
Burris is yet to announce his plans on whether or not he'll try to maintain his senate seat.

Rep. Schakowsky has been a US Representative for 8 years. Prior to that she was an Illinois State Rep. for 8 years. This makes her an Illinois politician for 16 years. Please get your facts correct before posting a story.
