A car crash this afternoon claims the life of a teenager from McLean County.
Authorities say the 19-year-old female driver failed to stop at the intersection of the Towanda-Cooksville and LeRoy-Lexington blacktops.
A pick-up truck crossing the intersection crashed into the automobile killing the female who was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital. The crash happened around 2-30 this afternoon in rural Cooksville.
More details are expected to be released following an autopsy tomorrow afternoon.

how do some of you KNOW she WASNT texting? unless somebody is capable of speaking to the dead girl, none of us really knows whether or not she was texting anyone. and just because nobody received a text, doesnt mean she wasnt trying to either. RIP.

Why does everyone assume that she was texting? Can no one think that there may have been some other reason? These parents just lose their teenage daughter. And her friends just lost her as well. But all that anyone can say is that she was texting. Before you assume, KNOW.

NewsFlash: don't bet that someone was texting or talking on the cell. She was doing neither of these things. Just wanted those of you so quick to judge to know the truth.

Place blame were it shouild also be. People who text others should find out if that person their texting is driving first, and text them at another time. I have witnessed people just talking on their cell phones and almost hitting me or others. There should be laws to stop this, so palce blame also on our state laws, and speak out to enforce such laws. Instead of just making rude comments, that are uncalled for. I make my daughter turn her cell phone off in the car, even though I am driving.

whatever comments were made about this girl is sad, but the fact still remains that she was careless in texting. I have three teenagers and the texting is out of control. My 18 daughter gets a text from hundreds of her friends every couple minutes. It's a shame that they get so distracted by these. My heart still goes out to her and family and friends. But if this were the case. Please parents keep on your children to have some responsiblity about themselves. I can't imagine the this lose.

who cares if she was texting or not. A person died here show some repsect what is the matter with you people? How would you like it if your child, friend or relative was in the same boat...would you make assumptions? The point is not what she was doing but the fact that she died. You weren't there to know what really happened. I send my reguards to family & friends.

to anybody that is being rude i swear god will get you one day. you didn't know anything about her. she was my bestfriend. and nothing can bring her back. if you said or thought something rude about this i hope you rot in hell. everybody gets distracted when driving so don't even act like you never have been. she was the nicest most beautiful person i have ever known. think about how me and the rest of her family and friends feel before saying anything.

I've known this girl since I was old enough to walk. She was one of the nicest girls I know and she's going to be missed by so many people. Please don't make rude comments about what you don't know, especially if you never knew her and aren't suffering like those who did are right now.

It is so sad to see that even in the midst of a tragedy like this that people cannot just be civil, for heaven sake a child died yesterday afternoon on a country road.I've been worried and wondering who's child it was, not debating what she was doing as she ultimately lost her life.My heart is sad and I don't even know who it is yet.My prayers are with this young woman's family as they face the coming days without the daughter they loved so much.

This young girl was the nicest girl most people will ever meet in their lives. No one has ANY room to blame about being distracted while driving; since it happens to the BEST of us. You learn from life and heaven needed an angel and they got one! <3

we cannot keep blaming, but look for a solution.. my son leaves his phone in pocket as he has lost friends and knows better.. it starts with us as parents to guide.. not to judge.. this poor girl is not with us anymore and we are making accusations and statements that only God knows exactly what happened..

I agree, I am just sad just seeing the story, and I never knew her. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

That is a very rude comment to make. A family just lost a child and you are going to make assumptions. You have no idea what happened.

Monday, Apr 20 at 9:03 AM AJE wrote ...

No disrespect to the family, I can't imagine the pain having never lost a child. But I would bet money that this young lady was texting or talking on a cell phone...as a professional driver I see at least 60% of drivers either looking at their phone or have it pasted to thier ear and not paying attention to traffic
