Richwoods Basketball Player Shot

By WEEK Reporter

Peoria Police are investigating the Monday morning shooting of Richwoods basketball player Aaron Davis.

Police were called to this home at 26–0–5 West Richwoods Boulevard around 6–30 this morning.
The 18–year–old Davis had called police...saying he had been shot.
Police found Davis had been hit by gunfire several times.

"18 year old male, shot multiple times in the 26 hundred block of West Richwoods. He was transported to the hospital from the scene".

Davis was a top player on this year's Richwoods High School basketball team.
Police say he was unable to tell police who shot him.
Davis is, according to a relative, out of surgery and in stable condition at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting, anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 673–9000.

The thing is, we need to pray for the family so much! Imagine what kind of fear you would feel knowing you are going back to a home where you or your son was shot! Pray for the family to be healed of the psychological scars, as well as the actual physical wounds. God bless this innocent family! I hear they are good people who had something bad happen to them. Have a heart! Drugs and crime are EVERYWHERE...actually worse in the wealthy areas in some cases due to naiivety! God bless them all!

Aaron is an upstanding young man, student and son. His mother is very involved in his life and knows where he is and who he is with. If half the parents out there were as good at parenting as Danielle is we wouldn't have nearly the number of "thugs". He goes to RHS because he lived in district and moved AFTER he had attended for over a year...there is an exemption. It was an attempted robbery...all of the people who blame Aaron - you could be next...remember that.

Reminder: It takes a village to raise and child. This community must join together to keep each other safe. Instead of labeling Aaron who was the victim of a senseless crime. Everyone needs to put there energy into keeping the neighborhoods safe in this community & remember that this type of crime could happen to anyone of our children. God Bless you all.

Fact of the matter is that the kid was shot, his actions before the shooting should not be scrutinized, nor who he "hangs" with, nor where he lives. The real truth is these kinda things happen, the reason they happend are obviously never really clear this early in an investigation. hopefully the boy lives, makes a full recovery, and is able to identify the shooter. The boy is a human being first and foremost, we all need to have some compassion, and reserve judgement.

Dear JILL and WONDERING..... just because this young man lives off of Richwoods Blvd doesn't automatically mean he has to go to PHS. Richwoods High is the home of the International Baccalaurette Program. Children from all over the distict and I even think the area can test to get into this program. We live off of Gale and BOTH of my children went to RHS. You people to take a look at the "BIG PICTURE" here. One of our communities children was shot. He's a talented boy. I will be praying 4 him.

To all the people who are saying blame it on the parents and talking about "thugs" get a life! This poor kid who happens to be a talented basketball player and a well-liked teen has been shot! Who cares where he lives! And dont anyone know how old the people were who shot him. All I know is that they are still out there roaming the streets so anything can happen next. This just proves that no matter where u live anything can happen! Aaron, you and your family r in my thoughts and prayers!

Aaorn is a good kid not some thug. I graduated RHS in 05 n to answer sum of u ppl, kids in Richwoods district are more corrupt than the kids coming from other schools. I hope that the young man recovers. but pure and simple when the person or persons are caught then you can have and idea of possibly WHY! I agree that the kids these days are not raised in the same manner as they were in the past. We need to pay attention to our own children and qho there freinds are. i'm not saying that this young man was in a gang but maybe he was a target because he would not join one. (FOOD FOR THOUGHT) This state does need the CCL passed before the (THUGS) KILL AGAIN

It's sad how many people jump to conclusions about something they don't know the entire story of. You hear someone was shot and start flying off the handle and making assumptions about this you ng boy. Tables would be turned if one of your family members or friends were in this position. Because a gun was involved people assume it was a thug. It very well could have been a home invasion. Until the facts are released nobody knows. Blame it on the parents??? You must not have children.

Where does it say in this article that this person was a thug? What difference does it make if the street is in Richwoods district? There isn't just black people behind bars or awaiting trial for murder, robbery, sexual assualt etc. GET A CLUE PEOPLE. We bleed the same blood. RED!
