Remember when your mother used to tell you not to let the bedbugs bite?

Well now, moms might be saying it for real.

Bed bugs are on the rise after a dramatic decline more than 50 years ago. The state health department says more world–wide travel and today's insecticides are reasons for the comeback.

Bedbugs hide in mattresses, curtains, carpet and couches, and they feed by sucking on the blood of animals.

You can spot a bed bug infestation if you see spots of blood on bed sheets, brownish–black fecal specks, or shed bug shells in your bed.

If you want to avoid bed bugs, remember to change your pillow cases and sheets weekly,

Look for signs of bed bugs along the seams of mattresses in hotels.

And wrap carpet or duct tape with the sticky side out along bed legs to catch the bugs.
