Peoria Riverfront Restaurant Closes

The former River Station Restaurant ---now called "Tilley's" -- on Peoria's Riverfront – has also closed its doors.

The former River Station Restaurant re–opened under the Tilley's name in August of last year.

Owner Dave Tilley says employees were all paid their wages and the corporation is working out final payments to some of its suppliers.

Tilly says he is working out what to do with the remaining gift cards at another eatery.

Tilley blames the shutdown on the economy, which led to a lack of traffic.

He said he didn't see the economy recovering in the near future, and felt it was best to pull out of the restaurant business now before it was too late.

It is sad to see one more restaurant to go, most of us in this business put our hearths and every thing we own to make this a reality, I hope that the Tilley's dont' give up.

I'm sure the food was good, it just the location. No one is downtown Peoria anymore, Maloof caused that problem. If you want to survive you need to open a business where people are, North of city of Peoria, is where you should have opened your business

I am sad to see the restaurant close. Our food was great each visit. The menu was outstanding. It was great effort!

We took the family there for dinner last month and the service was poor, the food mediocre and my baked chicken was raw. We knew then it was doomed to fail. I agree that the economy will have an impact on area restaurants but the ones with good food and decent prices will survive.

Yep that was probably a very wise choice. Watch others go down soon. Bereans is shutting down on Thursday. More to come soon.
