The U.S. Senate could vote early next week to delay the country's transition from analog to digital television.

The senate came close to an agreement late Thursday, that would push back the February 17th conversion to June 12th.

Democrats say too many Americans won't be ready for the switch to digital. While republicans have said a delay would only confuse people.

Earlier this month, President Obama called for the transition date to be postponed, after the commerce department ran out of funding for coupons for digital TV converter boxes.

Now, even if the Government delays the switch, Granite Broadcasting, the owner of this station, has petitioned the FCC to flip their switch anyway on February 17th.
