The Illinois Department of Agriculture says heavy spring rains cut Illinois' corn production by 7-percent last year.

The department says the state harvested 2.13 billion bushels of corn and that's down from 2.28 billion bushels in 2007.

Still it wasn't all bad news.

Illinois farmers harvested 19-percent more soybeans in 2008 compared to 2007.

Illinois is the number two state nationally for both corn and soybean production.
