CDC Says Teen Pregnancy Rate UP

After 14 years of declines, the teen pregnancy rate in the U–S is going back up.

Figures released by the Centers for Disease Control today shows Illinois birth rate by teens up two percent between 2005 and 2006.

The birth rate in Illinois in 2006 was 39.5 births per 1,000 15 to 19 year old females.

That's below the national average of 41.9 births per 1,000.

Significant increases in teen birth rates were noted in 25 other states as well.

Mississippi is now the state with the nation's highest teen pregnancy rate– –more than 60 percent higher than the national average.

The teen birth rate is lowest in New Hampshire....
