Caterpillar Adding Jobs in Arkansas

Caterpillar is adding more jobs, but they won't be in Central Illinois.

CAT announced plans Monday to put a new motor grader plant in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Caterpillar will invest 140–million–dollars in the project, and employ around 600 people.

Company Spokesman Jim Dugan says CAT plans to move motor graders out of its Decatur plant so it can expand capacity for mining trucks in Decatur.

"We did an extensive national search to find a location that was going to provide Caterpillar with the most competitive and strategic advantage for our motor grader production in the long term," said Dugan.

Caterpillar inc. hopes the plant will be functional by early 2010.
