Keeping up your personal appearance can be costly. But if you're on a tight budget, you don't have to sacrifice looking good to make ends meet.

It's been called the recession proof business - cosmetology.
Hair cuts and fixes,.it all adds up quickly and it's necessary for many.

"I come here all the time," said Mike Thorgesen, ISU student.

The Midwest College of Cosmetology says you don't have to keep your hat on all winter if you don't have the money to get your hair done because you're credit card bills are too high. They say they have an option for you.

"Times are tough right now and we have a variety of services that can fit anyone's budget," said Jennifer Freaman, Midwest College of Cosmetology.

The Midwest College of Cosmetology has a full service salon where students work on clients.

"You're going to save quite a bit of money because they are students and they are learning. But the clients are saving money and they are getting relaxed and pampered while at the same time helping our students learn."

"They do a good job and I'm living on a budget and yeah good results."

The services include haircuts, highlights, manicures, pedicures, massages... the list goes on and on.

But if you're unsure about a student doing the work, the admissions counselor says don't worry.

All of the students are supervised by licensed professionals so they perform all of the services that we have to offer.

"From my experiences they have always done as good of a job as if you would go to one of the local hair cutting places."

And if you're on a tight budget, a cosmetology school like this one might be for you.

The school is part of the Lincoln College Normal Campus.
They offer a variety of discounts. The school holds an open house on December 10th and 11th.
