Events will be held across the country to remember the day that brought the U-S into World War Two.
In East Peoria... a new freedom memorial is taking shape to honor men and women in the armed forces.
It's called the Riverfront Freedom Memorial.
This Sunday city officials will raise a huge American Flag... it's 20 by 30 feet.
It will be displayed on an 80-foot flag pole.
John Gardner of the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce's RiverFront Freedom Memorial Committee says, "The next phase will begin as soon as spring time gets here and allows construction to happen. We are building a Pentagon shaped memorial that is in honor of the five branches of service."
The star will be made of engraved bricks.
The bricks can be purchased through the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce.
Sunday's ceremony begins at 11:30 at Riverfront park behind the Walmart in East Peoria... the flag will go up at precisely 11:48am... that's 7:48 Hawaii time... when the bombing of Pearl Harbor began on December 7, 1941.
