Some area kids were rolling strikes today in hopes of striking HIV and AIDS out of this area. The Minority AIDS Awareness Council sponsored a bowling for a cure event today at Landmark Lanes. About 50 bowlers were taking down pins in hopes of taking down a virus that kills an estimated two million people a year.
"We pack a mighty punch. Although we're small in numbers, we're mighty in our effort as far as our services we provide for Peoria," Anthony Moorman with the Minority AIDS Awareness Council says.
Besides raising money for AIDS research, the Minority AIDS Awareness Council tries to use education and other programs to prevent the virus from spreading.
Monday is World AIDS Day.
