It's a $2.6 million dollar revenue short fall projected this fiscal year for Peoria's District 150.
District 150 Treasurer Guy Cahill Monday night broke the news of the district's latest challenge to board members.
Superintendent Ken Hinton says a struggling national economy means the district needs to take some extreme measures to get back on track.
As far as when or what school officials plan on cutting, Cahill says he's not revealing that information until he presents it to the board.
Cahill does say the expenditures for the school district are right on track.
But the problem is revenue.
The amount of money initially expected from property taxes, corporate taxes and state categorical funding are falling well below what the district expected.
"It is a projection for next year in the extent that it establishes the base of what next year's budget is built on," said Cahill.
"So if we fail to share this with you now then next year's budget will be built on a higher base than we actually realized."
In other 150 news, some teachers from Thomas Jefferson on University say they want their personal belongings back.
These teachers say when the old Thomas Jefferson caught fire in early November they were told some of their stuff could be saved.
But now they say on–site workers are throwing out perfectly good materials.
"Frankly what's mine is mine," T.J. teacher Christine Rivan told board members.
"I should be able to do with it what I want.
Like many teachers I have or had more than a thousand children's books."
In an unusual move Superintendent Hinton addressed the teachers concerns tonight from the board floor.
Hinton says he plans to meet with the teachers to hear more of the issues tomorrow morning.

I have an idea, how about we get rid of all the head hunchos of the district 150 board and hire in people who know what they are doing in the first place. District 150 is always making news, and not for the better either. They are the only district that has made more negative press than any other. That district is a mess.
