Local Carpenter Electrocuted to Death

By Michelle Mantel

Police reports say that a 19 year old carpenter was electrocuted after the pieces he was raising for a shed roof were blown into electrical lines.

An autopsy today shows Joshua Defoe had electric burns on his hands and feet, which the coroner says is consistent with a high voltage injury.
Defoe, who lived in Rome, worked at Economy Builders and Supply in Princeville.
He was helping crews build the roof but was on the ground when he was electrocuted.
Defoe was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical center, where he was pronounced dead just before 12:30 Friday afternoon.
