Suspicious Fire in Peoria

By WEEK Producer

Fire investigators are looking into a suspicious house fire in Peoria Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived to a house engulfed in flames in the 400–block of South Charlton Street. It took crews about ten minutes to knock it down.
Firefighters had to keep the flames from spreading to nearby homes.

"Fire started on south side of the house. A fire investigator is on the scene. No power and no gas, the house was vacant so it looks suspicious," said Battalion Chief Jim Phelan.

Battalion Chief Phelan says the house was a total loss with a damage estimate of 55–thousand dollars damage. Smoke and flames also caused exterior damage to two neighboring homes.
