Rep. Hare Disappointed with Bailout Vote

By Josh Fowler

Congressman Phil Hare from the 17th District was in Galesburg Tuesday and had this to say about the bailout.

"I was disappointed we didn't have enough votes, as I said, I'm not critical of anybody that voted 'no' that was there decision. But for me, I put my card in very early. I didn't wait around. I voted yes, I don't regret the vote. I hope I can go back and we can get something done this weekend, get it on the President's desk and we can get this economy moving in the right direction. I will not sit by and do nothing, I don't trust the market to correct itself and I'm not willing to bet people's pensions and the ability to send their kids to college at risk," said Hare.

News 25 also attempted to contact Congressman Jerry Weller, who was the only congressman who decided not to vote on the bailout bill, but our messages were not returned. And all the calls went directly to his voice mail.
