Art Festival Gets Large Crowds

This was the last day residents could purchase original works of art on the Peoria Riverfront.

Kim Armstrong of the Peoria Art Guild says around 20–thousand people attended yesterday alone, exceeding her expectations after last week's flood.

Children stayed busy at the fair with plenty of hands–on arts and crafts activities available, including participation in an interactive mural.

"It's the image we use on the posters and such to promote the fair. We enlarge it, cut it into small squares, give people a blank tile and square. They paint it, we staple it up to the board and put the mural back together one piece at a time", said Tom Gunter, a Kids Art Festival Organizer,

Art pieces ranged from twenty to ten thousand dollars.
Many vendors say the Peoria Art Fair brings them some of their highest earnings in sales throughout the year.
