One non–profit organization is looking at history in a whole new light.
Story Corps is traveling state to state documenting the stories of everyday Americans, and this month they're in Peoria.

Story Corps hopes to collect one hundred interviews during its stay in Peoria.

Individuals have recorded interviews conducted by loved ones as they share their past experiences.

"I think we hear a lot about celebrities, we hear about notable people in history that have done these huge great things and that's great...but we're kind of creating this human history that's composed of everyday stuff that we all experience or maybe none of us experience, but we're fascinated by", said Story Corps facilitator, Alex Kelly.

Story Corps is the largest multi–year oral history project ever carried out.

Since its beginnings in 2003, the mobile units have collected more than 18–thousand stories in 46 states across the U–S.

Some of the stories will be broadcast on National Public Radio, and WCBU in Peoria....all will be available at the Library of Congress.

The mobile unit will be parked at Metro Center until October 18th.
