Fine Art Fair Fares Well on Riverfront

Activities on the Riverfront are finally getting back to normal, and the 46th annual Peoria Fine Art Fair is getting off to a promising start.
Artists from the Atlantic to the Pacific flooded the Riverfront for the Fine Art Fair...
And Central Illinoisans wasted no time getting back to the Riverfront after two weeks of flooding.

"We opened up this morning at 10 o'clock, and we had a line waiting to get in.
We probably had 150 people in line waiting to get in at 10," Fine Art Festival Co-Chair Kim Armstrong said.

150 different artists showcased their artwork in this eagerly anticipated event.
But with the September flooding, some were concerned they may not get a chance to set up.

"I was hoping everything was okay because I saw the flooding when I googled on the Internet," Kathleen Willer said.

Because of the flood waters, all of the booths scheduled to set up near the CEFCU stage were moved to the grassy area near the Riverplex...
But artists say it hasn't affected the crowd.

"I don't see a difference in this year and last year and the year before.
It seems like the same amount of people here," Wisconsin Artist Kathleen Willer said.

Although the Fine Art Fair looks a little different this year, area residents are glad to see the riverfront returning to normal.

"It's dry! And it's really nice.
I'm just surprised that they could get this all together so quickly," Karen Metz said.

Armstrong said, "I would not have guessed it at all.
Everybody's been a little afraid of the water and the flooding and what issues were down here, but they're out here.

With the dry space and huge turnout, organizers expect the art show to exceed its previous record of 40 thousand people this weekend.
