Gag Order Issued In Sheley Case

A day after accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley spoke out to a reporter, a judge has issued a gag order in the case.

Knox County Circuit Judge James Stewart issued the order during an emergency hearing today. Stewart agreed with prosecutors that Sheley's interview with The Associated Press compromised the fairness and integrity of the trial. Stewart says he'll lift the gag order if Sheley is found competent to stand trial.

Sheley's charged with bludgeoning to death six people in Illinois and two people in Missouri. Sheley told the Associated Press he had not discussed the facts of the case with his public defender, whom he said were trying to stall the trial.

I wish this Knox County it Judge Stewart had been in charge of rape cases taken place in Knox County. My grand niece 3 years of age was raped by her father in Maquon. Nothing was done about this, police were called, the child was rushed to the children's hospital in Peoria and was found to have an infection caused bythe rape.A genetic test was done and the proof was there, showing that the father on his weekeend to have the child had raped the child several times. The father walks free!!

A Gag order is good. This man does not need the sympathy of anyone, nor does the case need to be jeopardized by the press. When one person who is guilty or not, WALKS because of the press, we ALL LOOSE. Because muderers hurt us ALL. I am glad that we have Judge James Stewart watching out for everyone. Most people have never seen bludgeoning, Thank God. This is not an issue for anyone to take lightly. WE NEED TO LEAVE THE LAW TO THOSE WHO KNOW HOW TO PROTECT THE INOCENT.
