World War II Veterans Wrap Up in East Peoria

By Michelle Mantel

World War II Veterans traveled from across the country and met along the river to recall their time in combat.

The 280th combat engineer association concluded its 4 day event this morning.

Veterans traveled as far as Mexico for the gathering.
The association read the names of people who died in between the time they had their last meeting in 2006.

"They recall and knew the people that passed away very well and they will miss them", said Marlin Kreighbaum, President of the 280th Engineer Association.

The 280th combat engineer association started in 1990.
The association has a little more than 100 people in their group and will return to Peoria in 2 years.
