Smoke Free For Stogies

By Emily West

No worries about Illinois' Smoking Ban for some Cigar Smokers in Dunlap Saturday. Cigar connoisseurs gathered for the Annual Midwest Cigar Summit.

About 200 people attended the events at Hickory Grove Park. The event features a variety of cigar, beer and food vendors.

One of the organizers says the event began in Havana, Illinois, but for the second year though it's being held in Dunlap.

"You can come out here and try some cigars, a lot of cigars that aren't in the Peoria market," Lucas Woith says.

"We were just listed in Cigar officiando. We got the Emmy and a Grammy for Havana, the best tobacco fields in the Dominican Republic," Gene Arganese with Arganese Cigars says.

The organizer of the event says interest is up this year, partly because of the smoking ban. The festival gives folks the opportunity to smoke their stogies without offending others.
