A Peoria club geared toward community events and music for teens turned into the scene of a deadly shooting overnight.
A 26-year-old Peoria man was killed and two others wounded outside "The Rock" Christian Entertainment Center on southwest Adams Street near O'Brien Field.
The Rock Christian Entertainment Center, a club for people under 21, was in its last hour of business when an incident took place just to the left of the D-J booth.
"There was a female fight, and I called for security to come", said the club's DJ.
Gus says the fight was quickly broken up.
But shortly after, a large group of males began to fight on the left side of the room.
That's when Gus called for more security to come, and said "they did but the crowd was so strong that they got overpowered."
Gus says security managed to push the brawlers out into the foyer when pandemonium erupted.
A large group poured down the stairs and outside.
A man at a nearby bar saw the commotion and was stunned by what happened next.
"There was a fight going on in the street...There were about 25 people yelling and screaming. This one young guy started backing up, pulled out two guns and just started firing randomly into the crowd" said Partick Lang, and eyewitness.
Lang estimates about 15 shots were fired.
The gunman, he says, was standing 20 feet in front of him backing down the middle of the street as he fired.
"I probably wouldn't have even noticed him if he wouldn't have started shooting because my attention was at first down on the crowd", said Lang.
Gus, the club's DJ, heard someone was shot and barreled down the stairs fearing the worst.
It was my friend from security, his name is Teddy Jackson.
I found him laying here on the ground.
Jackson, who sustained a gunshot to the head was pronounced dead at O-S-F St. Francis Medical Center.
Jackson was a former Manual High School track star...one Gus says will be greatly missed.
"I hope they do catch him as quickly as it was done, because this was a nice place for kids to come to" said the DJ.
Police say the other two shooting victims were taken to the hospital but suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect remains at large tonight.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 673-9000.

This is a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young man. Hopefully society can learn that violence is not the answer.
