It is back to school time. And for many students, that means it's also time to have a required dental exam.

The Peoria City/County Health Department is trying to help out by offering walk–in dental clinics. It costs 25–dollars a child. But the clinic also takes a Medicaid medical card as payment.

And despite crowds and waits, many parents welcome the option.

"It's very helpful. If it wasn't for them to have walkins and accept the medical card, a lot of parents would be struggling to get their kids in to see a dentist or any kind of a doctor at all," said Cassandra Abbey.

The health department will again offer the dental clinic Monday from 8:30 to 11 in the morning...and from one to three in the afternoon.
