Storm Damage Causes Commuting Headache

By Eric Shangraw

Tuesday morning's storm may have caused some minor headaches for Peoria commuters.

Knoxville Avenue between War Memorial and Lake was closed after a large tree fell into the road.

According to WMBD Radio traffic reporter Ken Zurski, the tree fell at Knoxville and Crestwood sometime before Five a.m.

Zurski says it crashed across all lanes of traffic, immediately blocking off traffic in both directions.

City workers spent the remainder of the morning using chain saws.
The southbound lanes re–opened a little after nine o'clock.
