Fireworks frustration is developing over what's legal and illegal to sell and shoot off in the state of Illinois.
A fireworks stand in Creve Coeur sells novelty fireworks like snakes and sparklers. But just two miles down the road in North Pekin, a stand was selling fireworks that shoot into the air like bottle rockets and Roman Candles.
The State Fire Marshal's Office says those types of fireworks are illegal to sell or shoot.
"That stuff is obviously more expensive and there is a demand for that but there's also a demand for our stuff. We do probably lose some sales for people who want Roman Candles or something like that," Creve Coeur Fireworks Stand Operator Nick Dunn says.
The operator of the North Pekin stand says the state and village issued them a permit to sell fireworks. Late Monday afternoon after News 25 notified North Pekin's Police Chief, the illegal fireworks were removed from the tent.
The North Pekin stand remains open as the village attorney says the operator, a local church, was taken advantage of by a bigger fireworks comapny.
The village has notified state police and the Fire Marshal's office for further investigation.

what is so bad about bottle rockets and firecrackers, i mean people are taking there own risk, and it is THERE choice. You shouldnt be able to control what people do, and for that i think that having a fireworks law is one of the stupidest ideas illinois has ever had. people go to indiana, missouri, or wisconsin to buy them anyway so they are really not preventing anything.
