Simple Savings: Insurance Ideas

By Gina Ford

In today’s Simple Saving’s tip, Ron Murphy of Mid-Illinois Insurance and one of our experts on-line will give you some guidelines on how to save money with you insurance plans.

Murphy says probably the simplest way for a person to save on homeowners or automobile insurance is by looking at their deductible.
For example, a typical deductible on a homeowner’s policy might be 250 dollars.

To increase it up to 500 you can save as much as 15 to 18 percent. If they got to a 1,000-dollar deductible, they might save another 10 to 12 percent on their total overall premium.

For auto insurance, get a higher deductible for comprehensive and collision.

That way they can save between 15 and 18 percent on their deductible.
