There has been some concern from city officials and nearby residents that the music coming from the proposed teen club, Adrenaline, might be a little too loud.
Adrenaline owner Tim Behm wanted to put noise concerns to rest by conducting a sound test.
The club music was amped up, and two Peoria city councilmen showed up to see for themselves. The diagnoses?
"Really from the outside of the building, there was virtually no noise," said council member Bob Manning.
"It totally proved this to me that sound was not an issue for people," said council member Jim Montelongo.
This after phone calls of concerned residents less than 500 feet away from the building.
After today, loud music no longer seem to be a problem for them either.
But for some residents, it wasn't the fear of loud club music that worried them.
Michael Lacanski's back door faces Adrenaline, and though he has no problem with the club opening, he foresees problems.
"It's when they come out of there that we'll hear the noise. Cars revving up and everything probably, and screeching tires to get out of the parking lot. I was a teenager once," said Lacanski.
But Behm says that in addition to his six or seven security guards, he is also hiring at least four additional Peoria Police officers to be on site, particularly for the parking lot.
Adrenaline will be a private club. Kids must have an Adrenaline card in order to get in.
"We're gonna make sure they're enrolled actively in school. If we find out that they dropped out, we would also ban them from the club," said Behm.
Behm says he actively supports the school program, and hopes the community can support him.
