A motorcycle rider was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Emden.

29-year-old Dean Lowe of Emden was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County Coroner.

According to the coroner, Lowe was on his way to work in Pekin about 1:20 yesterday afternoon when he collided with a fertilizer spreader truck which was making a left-hand turn from U.S. 136 onto a county road.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Illinois State Police are still investigating the accident. Police say Lowe was not wearing a helmet.

The Preston-Hanley Funeral Home in Pekin is handling arrangements.

Dean worked with us at Hanna Steel for four years. We are all deeply sadden by the loss of such a great young man. A dedicated employee, hard worker, and great friend to all. His presence will be greatly missed. A sense of humor that goes beyond words, and a personality that touched all that knew him. He loved his family more than life, and our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May he rest in peace, and my God Bless those left behind with his strength and love.
