No "Adrenaline" In Peoria Yet

The Peoria City Council Tuesday night defers action on a change in city ordinances, which would have allowed a teen dance club on North University Street.

The proposed club, "Adrenaline" is located in the 76–hundred block of University —–within 500 feet of a residential neighborhood.
City staff had recommended against reducing the set–back distance.
Council members Jim Montalongo and Clyde Gulley argued for the change.
The issue will come before the council again in two weeks.

After watching the city council meeting I think it was made very clear that the majority of the Peoria Council Members will never welcome any sort of teen gathering/event! They have come up with any excuse they can to prevent this teen center from opening! Every concern they had the owners already took care of! Security, Noise, Music, Age, you name it they already handled it! Councilman Spain said he would help the owners find a new location I await the results!Give our teens a safe place to go

This is just ridiculous that this club cannot open. These young people need a place to hang out and party. Why not have one with adult supervision in a controled environment. It's no wonder you see story's like the one above about an underage drinking party busted in Morton.

to my knowledge, the 500 foot ordinance only apply's to a "teen dance hall". It was put in place due to an old teen club on Wilow Knowls Rd which was very poorly insulated, and was within less than 100 feet of residences. Peoria City Councilman G. Sandburg stated that "the number 500 was just plucked out of the air at the time to be a safe distance." He was basically saying with todays technology, and the difference in every building, the 500' rule should vary based on building structure.

Are the clubs located in downtown Peoria 500 feet from the apartments in the twin towers?
