Teen Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter In Friend's Death

Charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and involuntary manslaughter have been brought against 18-year-old Michael Howard of Peoria.

Howard is accused of the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Howard Scott Wednesday night.

Scott died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police have indicated the shooting took place inside Michael Howard's home on West Daytona Drive in Peoria.

Michael Howard was ordered held on $50,000 bail.

His parents, following Howard's court appearance this afternoon, said on the advice of their attorney they would have no comment about the incident.

That attorney, Tim Penn, would not comment to reporters, except to say that the charges carry a penalty of six to thirty years in prison.

Howard is due back in court for a preliminary hearing April 10, but he's likely to be indicted by a Grand Jury before that happens

I feel that everyone has to learn a lesson someday and Michael's day was the day he killed Howard.Learn that guns arent toys and they should have given him LIFE for tha tone.If he had have been out on the street into it with somebody for real the gun would have jammed up and didnt work but things always seem to work in oppisite ways aroun now sense he was only playin with Howard it went off for real.But i know Howard looks down on me smiling every tear i cry when i hear the song crossroads

Has Michael Howard had his day in court? Howard Scott is still dead and gone but not forgotten. When God said Thou Shalt Not Kill, it did not come with conditions and exceptions. Michael needs to live with the consequeces of his actions and spend his time in jail.

Young Individual, Dumb Decision, doesn't make him a murderer, to kill a human being with premeditated malice, If it was my child I'd be Angry whether it was a Accident or Not, thats only human. but it wouldnt bring my child back. Okay if he didn't kill my cousin on purpose then why is Micheal Howard afraid to tell the truth?Cause in our case we lose a family member and all he get is sent to jail with a $50,000 bail.To me any one can pay $50,000 if they really wanted to.Yall get to see yall son again but we don't get to see Howard Scott again untill his funarel.And that's the last time we well I get to see him and that hurts alot cause he was one of my favorite cousin.One day i talk the next day he gone so turn urself in.
