Water Damages Capitol Building

By News 25 Staff

Aome state employees are out of their offices today after they were damaged by a water leak.

Three floors on the north side of the Illinois capitol building were damaged when a sprinkler line began leaking.

Some employees of the governor, comptroller and state Senate
have been forced to relocate. The building's main entrance has been
shut down, along with elevators in the area.

Officials don't have any estimate yet on the cost of the damage. One concern is that the water may have set loose asbestos in old tiles and insulation.
