Our hometeam hero is celebrating her ninth birthday, but she isn't accepting gifts from her friends. Instead, Victoria Morgan told her friends to bring presents to her party that would help out animals without a home. She also asked her neighbors to chip in. Victoria and her mother made the delivery of donations to TAPS on Tuesday.
"I thought that dogs should get stuff too," Victoria said of her effort. "If they are just here and don't have a family, they should be able to have something."
Her mother, Vikki Morgan, said "The people were so generous and so wanting to give, so we've got a lot of good neighbors."
"It's great when kids take the initiative to help out," added TAPS Executive Director Angela Blackman.
Vikki Morgan says her daughter is an animal lover and decided on the TAPS project since she adopted a pet there five years ago. Donations collected included food, kitty litter, a cage, dishes, blankets and even money.
Blackman says the no-kill shelter can always use donations, including even newspapers or office supplies.
