Rising river waters have several roads closed near Route 9 and Dee-Mack roads. Farm fields near the Mackinaw are underwater.
The water is creeping towards Route 9 and some homes.
Carmen Reese has water rising in her backyard and said, "It is rising. It came up yesterday from about three in the afternoon to five o'clock. It jumped about a good foot and a haf, maybe two foot. It just started coming up."
Melodie Mendenhall had to take a detour to work. She said, "The road I usually take, is just flooded. As I was coming across Dee Mack. I knew we were in trouble. I haven't seen it this high probably for six to seven years. But I didn't even think about it when I was going over to Route 9. I couldn't even get to Route 9 to catch a road over to Hopedale."
One farmer says the flooding water brings a lot of debris to the farm fields, like corn stalks, trash and trees.
He says in the Spring he will have get in the field to clear the mess before he can plant.
Darrel Keyser said, "The water can damage some of the land, if there's fertilizer on it. It brings in a lot of corn stalks, trash and trees and stuff. You usually have to go picked up the fields before you can plant in the spring."
But Keyser says it's something folks who live and work around the river deal with every year.
"It's bottom ground, when you're farming the bottom, that's the way it is... you get water."
The Mackinaw is expected to crest today.
