A former El Paso police officer gets probation and 30 days in jail for an alcohol-related crash last year.
A Tazewell County judge has also fined Greg Heiken $1,500 and ordered him to perform 150 hours of public service.
Heiken had been drinking at the Par-a-Dice Riverboat Casino last December when he got behind the wheel of his truck and eventually rear-ended another vehicle.
That set off a chain-reaction crash, which sent several people to the hospital.
Before the incident, the state had honored Heiken for his DUI arrests as an officer.
