The Salvation Army, Children's Hospital of Illinois and WEEK-TV are joining together for the 24th annual Coats for Kids program in an effort to provide winter coats to needy children.
New or gently used coats in children's and young adult sizes are now being collected and cleaned until Dec. 4. Since the program began, 28,411 coats have been given out.
Applications can be made at the coat distribution site: The Salvation Army's Sylvia Fites Family Service Center, 417 NE Jefferson Ave. Distribution of the coats will begin Nov. 2 until all are gone.
Coats can be dropped off at: OSF medical offices and outpatient centers in the Tri-County Area, all area Pizza Hut locations, Jim Maloof Realty offices, American Family Insurance outlets, the Century 21 Lakeview Realty office in Eureka, WEEK-TV and Northwoods Mall.
A special collection will be Nov. 27 at a Peoria Rivermen hockey game.
